About the Author

About the Author
After she graduated from college, married a sweet fellow from rural North Alabama, and moved to the country, Cara finally found her niche. It was among the tranquility of big leaf magnolias, the comedy of countless cow pastures, and the sweet sounds of mockingbirds that she was fully inspired to pursue a life of wholesome and handcrafted means for herself and her young family. It all hinges on a lifelong creative streak replete with fine and practical arts, combined with an adoration for animals and all things outdoors, and a remarkable obsession with amateur mycology and foraging. Always sure to keep her nature-immersed upbringing and abundant family tree of master gardeners and farmers close to heart, on the Captain and Rosemary blog you can follow one young lady's experiments and thoughts on the road to creating, promoting, and preserving a handcrafted, homegrown lifestyle against the grain of harmful modern tendencies toward instant gratification and convenience.

The Blog Title

"Captain" & "Rosemary" are the names of Cara's first rooster and hen, respectively. Both are young White Plymouth Rocks, and are just as silly and loyal as can be.
